Introduction
According to IDC's forecast, the IT market rebound will begin by mid-2002, for IT spending will increase 4-6% in the United States, 6-7% in Western Europe and 10-12% in Asia/Pacific. In response to the series of security threats throughout 2001, IDC expects it will drive enterprises to rethink their specifications for business continuity, which will in turn create a need to reset IT security plans in 2002.

At the same time, Gartner's 2002 projection states that the lesson learnt by enterprises for getting insufficient attention during normal, day-to-day business activities in 2001 would push up the emphasis on: business continuity, user authentication, corporate provisioning, devices for securing small-office/home-office computing, information openness and data integrity. In general, security, privacy and business continuity implementations in 2002 will receive the funding and resources they need, even as other areas of the enterprise shrink.

e-Security Conference 2001 Hong Kong was held with success in December 2001 with overwhelming responses from industry players, research institutes and corporate users. With an aim to reflect the fast-changing market condition to the public, together with offering a focused discussion platform for sharing practical experience, the second e-Security Conference is scheduled to be held this April.
